Wishing you a Very Happy Pop-Punk Holiday!

Hey everyone! In the spirit of Christmas and the holiday season, I just wanted to wish you all a very happy, pop-punk holiday filled with love, laughter, and the welcoming spirit all our fellow emos, metalheads, and pop-punkers give our community every day.

In honor of the holiday, here is a quick review of some of my favorite pop-punk holiday songs to put you in the spirit:

Get This” by The All-American Rejects

A new release, this one is a relaxing yet catchy holiday song that graced our ears just a few weeks ago, slightly reminiscent of the vibes that made songs like “Swing, Swing,” and “Gives You Hell” so great..plus the music video is full of iconic Christmas movie references (Home Alone is my favorite!) A fun song about reconnecting with ones we love and putting them on our wishlist, check out the video here!

“Not Another Christmas Song” by Blink-182

Released in 2019, this song has ALL the classic blink sounds and is a total banger that normalizes depression and conflict during the holidays, reminding us that’s sometimes it’s okay just to be surviving. We could use a lot more of this for people who are struggling during the holidays, and this song will lift your spirits no matter what mood you’re in (and will probably be pleasantly stuck in your head for days!) Watch the video here!

“My Christmas List” by Simple Plan

Oh, this song is so nostalgic to me. I first discovered this song during my pop-punk awakening when watching the movie, “Unaccompanied Minors” at 12 years old. HAHA. I was right at the age where I was starting to get my teenage attitude but young enough to enjoy the meaning of the song…(“JUST GET ME THINGS THAT I DON”T NEEED…It’s CHRISTMAS, and I WANT EVERYTHING!) The song has the signature energetic sound of the Simple Plan album No Pads, No Helmets, Just Balls that is super upbeat and lyrics for both kids and elder emos to enjoy! Discover the song here!

“Yule Shoot Your Eye Out” By Fall Out Boy

And last, but not least…drumroll please…we have…MY FAVORITE…”Yule Shoot Your Eye Out” by Fall Out Boy (of course)! This song was one of the first Christmas songs I ever heard that was a big “F— You” to all the significant others who wronged us, and once again normalized not being okay during the holidays. This song is amazing and absolutely hilarious in a way that only Fall Out Boy songs could be (“Don’t come home for Christmas, you’re the last thing I wanna see underneath the treeeee, Merry Christmas, I could care less”). I consider it an absolute gem of a Christmas song (and die hard FOB fans do, to this day, too!) Listen to the song here!

Here’s to hoping all of you get everything you wish for and more this holiday season. I love you all!

Till next time,

XOXO,

Meagan
